Multi-Response Optimization of Coagulation and Flocculation of Olive Mill Wastewater: Statistical Approach

نویسندگان

چکیده

Olive oil production is one of the important industrial sectors within agro-food framework Mediterranean region, economically to people working in this sector, although there also a threat environment due residues. The main wastes olive extraction process are mill wastewater (OMW) and husks which require proper treatment before dismissal. In research work, goal introduce grey relational analysis, technique for multi-response optimization, coagulation flocculation OMW select optimum coagulant dosage. was carried out by adding aluminum sulfate (Alum) waste stream different dosages, starting from 100 2000 mg/L. previous optimization on briefly discussed, but no literature available that reports optimal dosage verified through analysis method; therefore, method applied selecting best operating conditions lowering combination multi-responses such as chemical oxygen demand (COD), total organic carbon (TOC), phenols turbidity. From 600 mg/L appears be top ranked, obtained higher grade. implementation statistical techniques can enhance efficiency process, turn supports preparation streams further purification processes sustainable way.

Treatment of olive mill wastewater by a combined process: fenton's reagent and chemical coagulation.

Olive mill wastewater (OMW) was exposed to Fenton treatment and subjected to post Fenton coagulation/flocculation using lime. Several tests were performed for different R = H2O2/COD ratios, from 0.25 to 3.0, promoting the gradual addition of H2O2 and Fe2+, with the original condition of a pH = 3.5 and maintaining a constant relationship H2O2/Fe2+ = 15. A maximum reduction of COD of 96.8% was ob...
